How To Train Your Dog To Greet Guests

September 19, 20120 Comments

A spunky dog may be a beautiful thing, but when they are all over guests as soon as they pass through your front door, something needs to be done. This video covers how to train your dog to greet guests in a calm and uneventful way.  You will need the help of a friend or family member – they will need to be willing to spend some time coming in and out of your house,  though.

You don’t want to start this training until your dog is doing really well with the ‘sit, stay’ command.  He or she needs to consistently stay in the sit when commanded to, otherwise this training will not work.  It is a normal reaction for your dog to want and see who is coming in the front door, so if they already know what it means when you say ‘stay’ that will help this exercise greatly.
